The Children's Room serves infants through 8th graders, as well as parents, care-givers and educators, with books, magazines, reference materials, books on tape, and video cassettes.

Internet access is available in 1/2 hour segments on a first come first served basis; children MUST have parental permission to use the internet. A second Macintosh computer with attached printer and word processing capabilities is available in 1 hour segments. To use either the Internet or word processing computers, you will need to show your library card and to sign up at the Front Desk.

Grolier Online, a reference database for elementary and junior high students, is available in the library on the "Data" computer in the Children's area and at home through the library's web site. You will need your library card number to access the database at home. Our Grolier Online database contains web versions of the Grolier Encyclopedias, Lands and Peoples (geography and cultures of the world), and Book of Popular Science (a science encyclopedia).

Independent readers going into grades 2 to 7 and/or family groups reading together can keep track of time spent reading for fun and, especially, a good cause, thanks to the generosity of Lockheed Martin Sippican, Inc.
Each hour spent reading is worth $1.00 towards the cost of buying a beehive, a goat or a llama for a needy family somewhere in the world through Heifer International
. (Learn more about
