About the Library

Welcome to the Russell Memorial Library.  We carry a variety of materials for borrowing including fiction and non-fiction books, audio books, magazines, museum passes, video cassettes, DVD's, CD's and CD-ROMs.  We offer reference service and Inter-Library Loan.  The library carries the local newspapers and also provides computer terminals for word processing and internet access.  And as members of the SAILS library network, Russell Memorial Library patrons enjoy access to the resources of over 60 regional libraries.  Tax forms are available during tax season.
 

How to get a Library Card

To become a registered borrower, you need to fill out a library registration form and provide identification and/or proof of residence which includes your current address. A parent or legal guardian must accompany any juvenile aged 12 and under when applying for a library card.

Library cards must be presented when checking out material and patrons must use their own card rather than another family members. Lost cards should be reported as soon as possible; replacement cards are $1.00 each. Please notify the library of any change of address. This may be done online through "iBistro" or in person. Parents or guardians are responsible for items borrowed by children.
 

Directions to the library
The library is located at:
 88 Main St. Acushnet, directly opposite the entrance to the Acushnet Cemetery.

Coming from NORTH near Boston area:
. Take MA-24 S towards TAUNTON/NEW BEDFORD.
. Merge at junction MA-140 S via EXIT 12 toward LAKEVILLE/NEW BEDFORD.
. Take the ASHLEY BLVD exit- EXIT 6- on the LEFT toward RT-18/ACUSHNET AVE.
. Stay straight until fork in road at set of lights.
. Turn slightly left onto ASHLEY BLVD, which becomes ACUSHNET AVE.
. Turn LEFT onto TARKILN HILL RD at next set of lights.
. Stay straight library will be on your RIGHT hand side.

Coming from EAST near Wareham and Cape Cod area:
. Start out going WEST on I-195 W toward NEW BEDFORD/FALL RIVER.
. Take the COGGESHALL ST exit- EXIT 17- toward FAIRHAVEN/ACUSHNET.
. At bottom of exit ramp turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto COGGESHALL ST.
. COGGESHALL ST becomes HOWLAND RD.
. At set of lights turn LEFT onto MAIN ST.
. At stop sign turn LEFT to stay on MAIN ST.
. Library will be on your LEFT hand side.

Coming from WEST near Fall River area:
. Start out going EAST on I-195 E towards FALL RIVER/NEW BEDFORD.
. Merge onto MA-140 N via EXIT 13B toward TAUNTON.
. Take the KINGS HWY exit toward ACUSHNET.
. At end of exit ramp turn LEFT onto KINGS HWY.
. You will go thru 5 sets of lights once on KINGS HWY, which becomes TARKILN HILL
  RD. and then becomes MAIN ST.
. Library will be on your RIGHT hand side.
