Mattapoisett, MA (6,500 pop.), is seeking a Library Director to provide executive leadership in the strategic delivery of Mattapoisett’s network of library services and programming tailored to serve the needs of the community’s residents and all library patrons. The next Library Director will lead the development of services designed to promote lifelong learning, encourage curiosity, and build community. Mattapoisett is a true New England seaside port located in southeastern Massachusetts, approximately 60 miles south of Boston. The Mattapoisett Free Public Library is considered the heart of the community and strongly supported by residents and local officials.


Qualifications: 

Preferred candidates will have experience working in a library, preferably in a similar-sized community, and will be skilled in leadership, financial management, and communication. Candidates should enjoy working with the public, have a strong sense of community, and excellent listening skills. Candidates should have a proven record of collaborative leadership and be highly organized, innovative, team-oriented, and skilled at working with other town departments, boards, peers, volunteers, and stakeholders. Master of Library and Information Science degree is required.


Education Required: M.L.I.S.

Salary: $80K

Technology Librarian

Halifax – Holmes Public Library

Part Time Technology Librarian

Description:

The Town of Halifax is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technology Librarian. This position is responsible for computer management: maintaining the library’s website; graphic design both in print and of the library’s website and social media sites; online database management; system updates and teaching one-on-one basic Internet and computer classes; assisting patrons at the circulation disk as needed. Directly reports to the Director.

The Technology Librarian is responsible for maintaining and updating the library’s 18 PCs, printers and other equipment (includes software/security updates, installing new software and databases); teaches Internet classes to the public; plans and runs workshops for groups on online social media sites, maintains the library’s website; designs program flyers, monthly calendars and other promotional materials; assists patrons with reference questions and with technology questions; assists on the circulation desk; responsible for the library’s projector system and assists presenters as requested. Experience with podcasts is a plus.


Qualifications: 

Knowledge of computer hardware and software, familiarity with electronic resources, and graphic design and the use of social media; web design and development; ability to relate well with staff and the public.

Part Time Library Page

Description:

The Library Page is a customer/resident service-oriented position responsible for circulation of library materials, front desk customer contact and providing services to customers/residents in an effective,
courteous and knowledgeable manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
– Responsible for charging, discharging and renewing library materials, assisting patrons with their reserves and library card accounts, registering new customers, issuing library cards and collecting fees
and fines.
– Sorting and shelving books in all areas of the library, according to the Dewey Decimal System and checking shelves for correct arrangement of books.
– Answering telephone, directing customers to appropriate staff and answering simple reference questions.
– Assisting staff with library projects.
– Assisting the public with a positive and pleasant attitude.


Qualifications: 

– The employee must have the ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public. Flexibility is required. Candiate must be able to work evenings and weekends, including “on-call” responsibility
during inclement weather or staff illness. Good oral and written communication skills and an ability to exercise good judgement and tact in carrying out library services and programs.
– The employee must be highly motivated, organized, energized by constant change and the challenges that it generates.
– Must also have the ability to work independently, receiving general instructions and minimum supervision after initial training.
– A working knowledge and willingness to learn computer applications and the internet is preferred.


Education Required: High School diploma

Salary: $15.00/HOUR 10-18 HOURS PER WEEK

Library Assistant – Circulation

East Bridgewater Public Library

Part Time Library Assistant – Circulation

Description:

The East Bridgewater Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-oriented individual for a part-time Library Assistant – Circulation position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, checking library materials in and out using an automated circulation system, enforcing library policies and procedures, including collecting fees as necessary, maintaining circulation records, answering phones, re-shelving materials, and other clerical and customer service tasks. The ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with the public is necessary. Flexibility and a strong desire to promote reading, viewing, and listening are highly preferred.
This is a part-time position working 15-19 hours per week with prorated vacation, sick, and holiday benefits. Applicants must be available to work weekdays, one evening a week, and rotating Saturdays. Position may be asked to work additional shifts on occasion.

Description:

The Carver Public Library is seeking applicants for a Cataloger. Hours are Tuesday 10am-3pm, Wednesday 10am-2pm, Thursday 10am-2pm and Friday 10am-4pm. Duties include receiving all library materials and preparing them for circulation, including adding them to the network system database using copy cataloging or original cataloging, preparing books for processing and creating spine labels, assisting at the Circulation, and other related work under the direction of the Library Director.

Knowledge of library organization and procedures, computer operations and library databases, and two years of library experience preferred.

Salary: $18.54 – This is a part time 19 hour per week Union position.
