Using Library Computers

The following software is available for adults to use in the Library on Microsoft Windows based computers:

      • Microsoft Office
      • Winway Resume
      • textHelp Read and Write 6

Adults may use the word processor for up to 2 hours at a time with a maximum of 6 hours per week. Walk-ins are permitted but we recommend that you reserve time in advance to avoid disappointment. Please be considerate of others and be on time for appointments. Your reservation will be held for 10 minutes only.

Patrons are now permitted to bring floppy discs into the Library. You may also purchase a formatted floppy disc from us for $1. The Library will keep your disc safe and confidential for any length of time. When you are finished with your disc you may turn it in to be erased and $1 will be refunded. Patrons who take their floppy discs out of the building are permitted to bring them back. We recommend that you NOT save work on the hard drive (the C drive) of the word processor because other patrons will have access to your personal business. Also, the hard drive is periodically cleaned by staff. If you do not intend to save your work, you need not purchase a floppy disc or bring one in. Printing is 5 cents per sheet. You may now also bring in a flash drive.

We also sponsor a free one-on-one tutoring program. A volunteer who is familiar with word processing or spreadsheet software will provide you with personal help in creating documents or learning the software. We provide the volunteer's name and phone number and you make arrangements to meet at a mutually convenient time at the Library.

The Library also has many CD-ROM titles available for use in the Adult and Youth Departments. Ask us.
