Member Services Librarian
Position Overview:
Working in a team environment, the successful candidate will assist with the ongoing support of the integrated library system (ILS) and other applications that enhance SAILS member services. This newly created position will serve under the direction of the Manager of Electronic Services. SAILS is a multi-type regional library network working with libraries in 39 communities through Southeastern Massachusetts.
Responsibilities:
- Provide first line of telephone, e-mail and on-site support to member library staff on the ILS software, document and communicate solutions.
- Carry out service requests; configure and run statistical reports, print bills & overdue notices.
- Help in the development and presentation of training workshops for member library staff.
- Perform regular site visits to SAILS libraries to provide communication and support for member services issues.
- Update existing documentation and training aids due to software upgrades, the addition of new modules, or changes in policies and procedures.
- Help in providing and improving current member services; ILS, Virtual Catalog, OverDrive collection, Digital collection, and recommend possibilities for the future.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- MLS from an ALA accredited program or current enrollment
- Customer service and circulation experience
- Familiarity with integrated library system software, preferably the SirsiDynix Unicorn product, and commitment to follow emerging technology trends.
- Ability to communicate effectively with library staff members with varying technology skills and experience.
- Ability to write well organized, user friendly, easy to follow documentation and instructional materials.
- Willingness to gather input from other staff and member libraries on training materials and presentations.
- Ability to be self-motivated, to exercise initiative and independent judgment, and prioritize work flow.
- Excellent oral, telephone and written communications skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team based environment
- Valid driver’s license
