The Somerset Public Library exists to serve the people of the Town of
Somerset and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. To protect our patrons, and
the materials belonging to us and to other libraries in our cooperative
systems, we issue library cards to our patrons.
The rules for obtaining cards at the Somerset Public
Library are as follows:
Adult Cards
Patrons over the age of eighteen (18) must
fill out an application form (in person) and present a picture ID with the
current address on it. If the patron has recently moved, a utility bill may
be used for address confirmation.
Children’s Cards - ages four (4) through
twelve (12)
A parent or legal guardian may obtain a
Somerset Public Library card for their child on or after their 4th
birthday. The parent of legal guardian must have a library card and be
a patron “in good standing”. Identification must be a picture ID of the
parent or guardian, as the responsible party, with their current address.
Children’s Cards - ages thirteen
(13) through seventeen (17)
Children, ages 13 through 17, who have
picture identification, including their current address, may obtain a
Library Card without the signature of a parent or guardian.
Children, ages 13 – 17, who do not have
picture identification must have a parent or guardian with picture
identification including their current address sign their application. This
must be done in person at the library.
