A valid library card,
in good standing is required to borrow library materials.
How to Get a Library Card
Library card applications are accepted at any SAILS Library. In all cases,
you must fill out an application form and proof of address is required.
Please remember you are responsible for any items taken out with your card.
PIN Numbers
When you apply for a Library Card, you will be issued a PIN (Personal
Identification Number). This PIN can be used to access our
Online Public Access Catalog. You can
place holds, renew library materials, download audio books and much more.
Questions about your PIN should be directed to the
Head of Circulation.

Renewals
You may renew materials by phone, through the
Online Public Access Catalog.
or in person for an additional two weeks if there is no one waiting for
the materials. Videos, DVDs and Electronic games can not be renewed.
If we get an item for you from another Library, we must follow their policies
for renewals.
Overdue Fines
There is a nominal fee for material returned after its due date. The fine
rates are:
Books, magazines, CDs and Audio books

Videos and DVDs

Reserves / Holds
You are welcome to reserve library materials in person, by telephone or by
using our on-line catalog. When the item you requested comes in to the
Somerset Public Library, we will notify you by telephone and/or email. You
may have a maximum of 20 requests on your account. If you do not find what
you need, please contact the
Reference Staff .
They can help you obtain the materials through Inter-Library Loan.
Email Notification
Lost Cards
You are responsible for all materials taken out your library card. To protect
yourself, please report your lost card immediately. There is a replacement
fee of .50’ for a new card.
Lost Materials
You will be assessed the replacement cost of material permanently lost or
destroyed plus a $2.00 processing fee. Please contact the
Head of Circulation or

Returning materials
Materials may be returned in person or in our book drop located to the right
of the North Entrance. Materials (with the exception of Museum passes and
Electronic games, and special loans) may be returned to any library in the
SAILS Network.
Museum Passes, Electronic Games and items we get for your through
Inter-Library Loan or via Virtual Catalog must be returned to the Somerset
Public Library.
