Library Trustees Annual Report Letter 2008

To the Honorable Board of Selectman, elected officials and residents of the Town of West

Bridgewater.

The Library Board of Trustees takes pleasure in presenting our 2008 annual report.

We are pleased to report that last year was another busy and successful year for the West Bridgewater

Public Library.

In response to the recent economic downturn our library has experienced increased usage as many people began relying

on our resources to research career and educational opportunities.  Many more people are also relying on the library

for computer services and internet access as well.  In 2008, we also saw an increase in the

number of patrons taking advantage of library resources to reduce or eliminate personal expenses by borrowing books

rather than buying them or even borrowing from our DVD and VHS movie collection rather than renting movies or

going to the theatre.  We are pleased these valuable resources are available and we are happy to provide them to our patrons. 

We encourage all residents to visit the library and learn more about the interesting, entertaining and educational resources

available.

We would like to take this opportunity to recognize that the success of our library is due to the support we receive

from our community.  In that regard, we wish to offer our gratitude to all who support our efforts, including our elected

officials, our fellow town residents, our patrons, our volunteers and of course the Friends of the Library.  We would also like

to thank our staff who has continued providing the exceptional professional services to which our patrons are

accustomed while simultaneously developing additional programs and services to reflect the changing needs and

interests or our patrons.

The Board of Library Trustees usually meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the historical

room of the library.  However, dates and times can be confirmed at town hall, the public library or the library website,

which can be found at www.sailsinc.org/westbridgewater.  All town residents are welcome to attend our meetings and

participate in the administration of our library.
