Full Time Administrative Associate


Summary of Duties: The Administrative Associate is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the library staff, the Board of Library Trustees, and non-profit organizations created to support the library. Work includes, monitoring expenditures, reconciling accounts, processing payroll, maintaining records, entering financial data into the MUNIS and SAILS network databases, ordering supplies, and preparing reports. The employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.

Hours: Full-time. Employee is ordinarily scheduled to work thirty-five (35) hours per week. Schedule may include occasional evening meetings.

Status: This position is covered under the Town’s collective bargain with Library Staff Association, MLFA, AFT-Mass. As per this agreement, preference shall be given to qualified applicants who are members of the Association over outside applicants.


Knowledge, Abilities and Skill:
Knowledge: Knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, office management; and the use of office equipment, microcomputers and related peripherals; use of Microsoft Office or similar software packages, use of electronic data systems, and use of the internet and social meeting, including searching and updating content.

Abilities: Interact courteously and patiently with the public, and perform tasks despite frequent interruptions.

Skills: Strong communication skills, customer service skills, and computer skills. Physical and Mental Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the position’s essential functions.

Physical Skills: Little or no physical demands are required to perform the work. Work effort involves sitting, stooping, walking, and standing. There may be a need to stretch and reach to retrieve materials, and lifting, carrying and stacking heavy objects (up to 20 pounds).

Motor Skills: Duties are largely mental rather than physical, but the job may occasionally
require minimal motor skills for activities such as moving objects, operating a personal
computer and/or most other office equipment, use of key boarding, filing, sorting of papers.

Visual Skills: Position requires routine reading of documents and reports for understanding.

Education Required: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and one to three (1-3) years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, data entry and office work.

Salary: Starting Rate: $15.58
